Your dream wedding is coming up and you’re thinking about hosting the celebrating at the enchanting historic European mansion in Princeton, TPC Jasna Polana, and wondering where to take wedding photos in and outside of the venue. This guide will break down the exact locations throughout so you can decide which of them you wish to prioritize for your wedding day portraits.
As a professional wedding photographer since 2017 I was really excited to work on a whimsical photo shoot project at Jasna Polana. Without these NJ wedding vendors, it wouldn’t be possible to capture what I imagined in my head – pastel spring colors, candles and greenery, nature brought inside, a dreamy aesthetic – all inspired by a romantic vintage storybook and fairytales.

Jasna Polana is tucked away in a forest where you escape to Europe without ever leaving New Jersey.

If you’re planning your wedding at Jasna Polana, you’ve probably noticed there are so many beautiful places to take photos. The key is choosing the right ones for your newlywed photos, not all of them. Most couples have about 30–60 minutes for portraits. I recommend 90 minutes if you can so you have more time to take photos without feeling rushed and get to go take portraits at the locations around Jasna Polana that remind you why you chose it in the first place. If you have an hour, choose three locations. If you have 30 minutes, stick to your top two so you don’t feel rushed. Keep in mind, many of the best photo spots at Jasna Polana are out in the open. If you want to stay hidden before your ceremony, plan your photos before guests arrive. The grand staircase entrance is a favorite (and must have) for family photos. If you want to use it, have your floral team finish the entrance setup at least two hours before guest arrival so it’s fully photo-ready. Group photos with the wedding party should be taken at the staircase or wherever your last stop is for newlywed portraits for a seamless and easy flow to your wedding day schedule.
This ten hour timeline at Jasna Polana works best if your ceremony and reception take place here too. If that’s the case, a first look is recommended so you can take care of all your portraits before the ceremony and enjoy the celebration with your favorite people as a just married couple. Two photographers will always be recommended for weddings at Jasna Polana that way you benefit from an easy flowing wedding day schedule while one photographer is with the bride and the second is with her partner during getting ready and the second photographer is primarily focused on photojournalism while the lead will be directing, posing, and managing the wedding photo sessions.
