My favorite place in all of New York City (NYC) is no other than Brooklyn’s finest, DUMBO. DUMBO is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.

3 reasons why choose DUMBO, Brooklyn for engagement photos

1. It’s underrated, most tourists stay in Manhattan and take the time or day to visit DUMBO.
2. There are so many locations within short walking distance for photo ops, including skyline views, fun Jane’s carousel, and the iconic Manhattan Bridge/Brooklyn Bridge backdrops.
3. After the session, get some of the greatest pizza known in New York City: Juliana’s or Grimaldi’s.

 

How long do I need to plan an engagement photoshoot in DUMBO?

I have packages for couples that end up being 90 minutes – some sessions go over at 2 hours. It always depends on the outfit changing and how crowded the photo spots are within DUMBO. See engagement photos pricing here

As for the timing – be sure to plan your engagement photos around sunset and don’t leave until you, at least, see the entire skyline light up at blue hour. Check out sunset times by doing a simple Google search. For example, the Sunset time in NYC is 7 PM. Plan your engagement photos between 6 PM-7:30 PM EST.

 

Do I need a photo permit to do a photoshoot in DUMBO?

This is music to a photographer’s ears…, “NO”. As long as you don’t have bulky photography equipment like tripods – you’re okay with doing a photoshoot in DUMBO with your subjects and your handheld camera.
