This is a list of three locations in New Jersey for your engagement photos in the springtime. Although this post is geared towards engaged couples, this can also be beneficial for photographers, expecting mothers, families, and those who are single or dating too.
In this blog, you will also see photos taken by Miranda, Suess Moments, at each location. Learn more about booking your engagement photo shoot and prepare for it here or contact Miranda for more info today!
My favorite season is springtime and I highly encourage couples to book their engagement photos in New Jersey between the end of March and the first week of May to take advantage of the pink trees and flowers. According to Weatherspark.com, April temperatures in NJ are projected 40-67 degrees Fahrenheit.

NJ Botanical Gardens permit, photographers with valid permits do not hold exclusive rights to any one area of the grounds or gardens for their photo sessions. Therefore, you may find on the day of any scheduled sessions that other photo shoots are happening around the gardens. The area is large enough that there are plenty of ideal places to take photos at. However, if you wish to shoot in a particular area, be aware that you may need to wait for others to finish before you can access it. Additionally, if there is a wedding taking place in one of the gardens, that area may be off-limits at the time you come.
You would need to call (973-962-2240) or email us (Ringwood@dep.nj.gov) ahead of any scheduled shoots. It’s best to schedule photoshoots around unpopular dates where there are no events so that photographing on the Skyland Manor castle grounds is possible.
In the summer (weekends only), the fee at either the Ringwood Manor or Skylands section is $5 per car for NJ residents and $7 for non-NJ residents.
NJBG charge from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. If you were to shoot during the operational hours of tollbooths (approximately 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.), you and your clients would need to pay the parking/entrance fees.
$150, no limit to the number of people you are photographing under one permit
