Wedding photos at Gowanus, Brooklyn NYC concert & event venue: The Bell House
Ever thought of having a wedding at a concert & event venue? See if this blog will inspire you to plan yours at once!
Where is The Bell House located?
149 7th St.
Brooklyn, NY 11215
Does the Bell House have a designated room to get ready in?
As a wedding photographer, I would not recommend taking photos in the Bell House “green room” and getting ready. At this wedding, the bride and groom got ready at Downtown Brooklyn hotels nearby:
The bride got ready at the Ace Hotel
Groom got ready across the street from the Bride at the Holiday Inn
Why get married at a concert & event venue?
This couple loves music and makes a living off of it. One of them owns a record and coffee shop in Brooklyn. It only makes sense they got married at a local Brooklyn wedding venue that also dupes as a concert & event space.
Should you hire a wedding planner?
Especially a place that needs off-site vendors to make a wedding happen. The Bell House must have a wedding planner. It’s much easier if a couple hires someone on the day of to make sure the timeline and decorations, and vendors show up when they are supposed to. The couple shouldn’t be worrying about this while they enjoy their wedding day.
Wedding photos style: Dark and Moody
The reason I changed my photography style for this wedding day at The Bell House is that the couple is unique. Loves dark colors and fall golden accents. That is why I chose to shoot dark. Even though their venue is dark, so the photo naturally looks that way as I had to set up my own lighting to create some light in the venue. Otherwise, it would be almost all black and dark imagery. Choosing a wedding venue with low light, dark ceilings and walls, and color accents will result in dark and moody wedding photography. I love dark and moody wedding photography styles as I believe it makes the photos more photo journalistic, tells a story and gives emotion to the photographs.
We started the wedding day with a first look and took care of portraits of the couple, their kids, and VIPs before the ceremony so they can also enjoy cocktail hour and reception with minimal interruptions.
