In this blog, we will cover a romantic photo session of a couple celebrating their engagement in photos at Seaport, NYC.
Location
The initial meeting location for the engagement photos in Seaport was in front of the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop: 207 Front St, New York, NY 10038. Front street homes have so much history with the classic refined cobblestone street, brick, and New York City vibes. It’s a fantastic first location to start the engagement photo session.
Then we walked over to a secret (not-so-secret anymore) location, Pier 15, for a Brooklyn Bridge and river views. We planned to shoot here in Seaport 30 minutes before sunset. Pier 15 is the best place in Seaport, NYC for a sunset view and engagement photo session.
As the sunset, we walked over to the picture-perfect McNally bookstore for more of an enchanted-moodier photo. This is a perfect photo location for a couple who loves Harry Potter/books/or whimsical things. Because this couple is planning a Harry Potter-themed wedding, I wanted to try and get a shot of them INSIDE the bookstore with Harry Potter books and a scene with books. Without hesitation, I asked the bookstore clerk to request a quick photo session of a couple inside the store and they asked management for permission and gave us the green light (okay) to do a mini photo session upstairs.
What time was the photoshoot
Like most of my photoshoots, I plan 90 minutes before sunset. It’s the best time of light for photography in my opinion. I also like to offer my couples a variety of photos – some daylight, moodier, and nighttime magic.
The skirt rental
I offered this bride-to-be a complimentary skirt to wear during the photo session. This skirt was easy to put on as she pulled it up over her leggings and over her bodysuit top. I offer skirts (fits 25″-30″ waists) for my ladies to wear during the photo session. This saves her hundreds of dollars on a romantic engagement shoot outfit. She doesn’t have to worry about what to wear for her engagement photos since I already have something for free for her to wear. All she needs to bring is a neutral color top/bodysuit.

Janice and Andrew’s engagement photos took place in a romantic setting in NYC (Seaport). We chose this location as it complimented their Harry Potter-themed wedding.
