A whimsical wedding photography collection in San Diego on a beautiful August day. Keep scrolling for a preview of their wedding highlights in the Youtube video shared below and the photo gallery presented too.
We started the August wedding day at the Best Western Plus Hacienda in San Diego. It’s an old town area, with plenty of delicious Mexican food restaurants, dancing palm trees, and boutique shops to keep you and your guests busy for a California destination wedding weekend. The hair and makeup team offered the couple calming facial massage, facial, plenty of time to feel pampered and relaxed before the chaos of the wedding day. It’s the best way to start a wedding is to feel at ease! Yes, including the groom! He was taken care of, too, by the fabulous three-hour bridal ritual hair and makeup team, Salt Spell Beauty!
After the glam was complete, we set up the first look at the couple’s requested location, in front of a circle cut-out pathway at the Best Western Hotel. It was a sweet moment; watch it as part of their highlight reel here.
The first look was sweet; then we took Lyft rides to busy Mission Beach to play arcade games. They LOVE basketball and played a round of friendly competition and a photo op. Around Mission Beach, there’s an amusement park vibe, and we took a moment for photos in front of the carousel and corn dogs. They were very adamant about having a corn dog photo (lol) !
We then took a stroll to the beach, MANY, MANY half-naked people, as expected, but all congratulated the couple!
Once the 2-hour photo session was over, we headed to their Ventura Cove ceremony to prepare for their moment to walk down the aisle, TOGETHER. The bride’s father was there in spirit, and the groom wanted to walk down the aisle with his soon-to-be wife. It was a euphoric experience, I can see it in their eyes – full of joy. It was non-traditional, and I loved that they walked together hand in hand to the altar.
Their ceremony was in a public park so you will notice camper tents and a parking lot in their photos. Nicely, the locals stayed away from setting up tents behind the archway and gave the ceremony some privacy. Unfortunately, some of the locals weren’t turning down their music so it was a little loud. Despite the rude locals, the handfasting ceremony was short and sweet.
Following the ceremony, we returned to Best Western for a wedding reception in their banquet hall, perfect for an intimate wedding reception. They decorated it with crystals, gold accents, greenery and whimsical touches of elegance.
The wedding was so beautiful – magical – during such a lovely weekend in Southern California.
