The Wedding Day at the Palace at Somerset Park ,NJ

The wedding was held on October 26th during the beautiful fall season, with the parking lot surrounded by stunning autumn foliage. While the Palace at Somerset Park has limited outdoor photo spots, mainly around the entryways and indoors, this gives photographers a chance to get creative in capturing special moments. With another wedding happening that same day, our options were a bit more limited, but we made the most of it!

The bride and groom’s suite didn’t have any windows, so we took all the preparation photos inside using flash photography. As a professional photographer in New Jersey, I was totally up for the challenge!

The ceremony took place after sunset, and I suggested to the couple that they consider adding uplighting to brighten up the beautiful background trees. It really helps the photos pop and ensures their special moments don’t get lost in the darkness. Given the large guest count, the ceremony setup felt a bit tight, which is common for big weddings. I recommend keeping the wedding party seated at the altar to make it easier to capture those intimate moments. And if we could create a little walkway along the outer aisles for photographers, that would help us capture those beautiful exchanges without getting in the way.

It was a chilly evening, so I hope guests remembered to bundle up a bit for the fall temperatures!

The cocktail hour was a huge hit! There were so many delicious food options that everyone was sure to be satisfied at the Palace at Somerset Park.

The reception ballroom was absolutely stunning! I loved that there was a balcony where a photographer or videographer could set up and capture all the fun from above. It really adds a unique perspective to the celebrations!

As for the staff at Palace at Somerset Park, we were gifted with such a great team who were attentive and kept the wedding schedule on time.
