NYC Photography: Midtown Loft and Terrace Wedding Photos

In this blog, you will learn about my experience as a wedding photographer at the Midtown Loft and Terrace wedding venue in Manhattan, NYC. Let me just start by saying how I think it’s one of my most FAVORITE venues to photograph in NYC.

Pros and Cons of a Midtown Loft and Terrace Wedding

PROS

A blank canvas
Rooftop access with retractable roof
Empire state building views
An amazing place for an outdoor ceremony with a built-in greenery-archway
Large space for a reception and dancing
Multiple kitchens for catering
Handicap accessible with elevators

CONS

You may need to book a rooftop separate from the main event space
The bridal suite has no walls/ curtain privacy only. Best to get glam off-site – but get dressed onsite.
Catering staff/vendors have to use stairs. Elevators are slow to operate
The just married exit is untraditional if you choose to get married under the rooftop archway
No parking – guests must carpool, taxi, pay for a garage spot or use public transportation

The Wedding photo timeline at Midtown Loft and Terrace

This couple did not “getting ready photos”, rather the bride wanted private prep moments after the salon with her mother in the closed-curtain bridal suite. The groom just wanted to start portraits during their first look.

30 min detail photos in the bridal suite
1 hour first look, followed by bride and groom portraits around 5th ave + inside Midtown Loft & Terrace
15 min @pickles_the_ween family photos
30 min wedding party photos
30 min VIP photos
30 min break/prep for the ceremony
30 min ceremony outdoors and on the rooftop
1 hr cocktail hour on rooftop (candid portraits + fine art night pics during this time)
4 hr reception in the event hall
- thank you speech from the bride & groom
- eat dinner, speeches from MOH and best man
- dance set with live band (+horah dance fun photos)
- cake cut without announcement
- 10 min magical portrait with photobooth/neon signage
- taco photo at end of the night

Wedding photos at Midtown Loft & Terrace, NYC

A collection of wedding photos at Midtown Loft and Terrace in Manhattan (NYC). The wedding took place in September, the weather was cooperating and we worked well around the foot traffic during the portrait sessions around 5th avenue. I loved how at this wedding, this couple did not stick with traditional things. Like, the bride wore a custom beautiful satin-textured champagne color dress by @designerloft_Bridal . There’s more about this day I loved, like how they invited their fur baby, Pickles, for photos! The wedding took place all at one location, which made the guests’/vendors lives easier so there’s no need to commute around NYC in order to get to the next location on time. I also loved the fact that they wrote vows and brought engraved 2020 wedding decorations/magnum champagne bottles to incorporate in their 2nd wedding date in 2021.
