For the best results, it’s suggested that you wear neutral colors (you can mix and match tones too), which also look great framed around your home. Ladies may want to consider wearing flowy skirts or dresses for a more romantic and whimsical look. However, it’s important to prioritize feeling comfortable and beautiful. Make sure to try on your clothes two weeks before the session to ensure proper fit, and schedule any alterations or pressing/steam appointments if needed. Also, remember to keep your clothes safe from pet hair by placing them in a garment bag. Here are some styling ideas on what to wear:

For him

• Accessories matching the shoes (watch, belt/suspenders)
• Consider a suit jacket for a formal look
• Blue, brown, black, tan are perfect colors to wear for bottoms 
• White pressed shirts look best for photo shoots as when the light bounces off his white shirt, it will make your face glow a little brighter. If he wears a colorful shirt, there’s a chance that the color will cast on your skin tones. 
• Steam/iron alter clothes

 

For her

• Match your jewelry accessories with your engagement ring metal color
• Flowy skirts and dresses look more romantic in photos as you move around and I capture you candidly
• For cooler temps, consider a nice trench coat or wearing leggings and nude tights under your maxi dress/skirt
• Don’t completely match your partner – pick a neutral color in a different tone.
• If you are planning to take photos on uneven ground like the grass/dirt/sand – wearing a platform chunky heel or flat shoe will be best.
• If you are insecure about your arms, I will do my best to remind you to keep your arms away from your sides. However, you can boost your confidence if you choose to wear an off-shoulder top, quarter sleeve or long sleeve top that can hide one of the most common insecurities.

Glam tips

Book a manicure within 72 hours of your photo session and ensure your engagement ring is clean. If you don’t like gel manicures or acrylics, consider trying sticker nails that can last over three weeks. It’s best to try them out 72 hours before your session. Your engagement shoot is an ideal time for a “bridal trial” to experiment with your desired hair and makeup look for your wedding day. Pets at an engagement photos session

I understand that preparing your pet for a photo shoot can be a bit overwhelming, so I just wanted to remind you to start training your pet if you haven’t already. It’s so important that your pet feels comfortable and knows basic commands like no jumping, sit and stay to show off their modeling skills during the photo shoot. Before the session, try to schedule about an hour for exercise with your pet to help them stay calm when I (the photographer) arrive/s. You are welcome to have fun with pet accessories such as a neutral-colored collar and leash, bandana, outfit, or even a sign to announce the engagement or wedding. Having someone there to watch and take care of your pet during the photo session can help alleviate some of the stress, allowing you to fully focus on each other. While your pet will only have a short moment in the spotlight during the photo shoot, rest assured we’ll capture plenty of wonderful photos with these tips!
