A collection of documentary (candid) film-style wedding photos at the Park Loft in Central New Jersey. As a NJ wedding photographer, I select Park Loft as one of the best venues for a picture-perfect wedding.
Park Loft is located at 505 Brewer Ave, Oceanport, NJ 07757
This wedding at Park Loft took place during the summer.
The color palette for this Park Loft wedding was pastels, but the groom and groomsmen wore matching black tuxedos without traditional boutonnieres. The decor was minimalistic and timeless.
1. Lighting Considerations: The venue has dim lighting, so it’s crucial to hire a professional wedding photographer experienced in photographing in dark environments. They should be skilled in off-camera flash techniques to ensure beautiful images.
2. Getting Ready Arrangements: The venue does not permit hair and makeup to be done on-site, but the bride is allowed to put on her dress in the bridal suite. To maximize your getting-ready photos, it’s highly recommended that the groom and groomsmen arrive fully suited. It’s not recommended to take pictures in matching robes or pajamas in the bridal suite, as it cuts into precious photo time that I believe is more important. If a couple is looking for those matching PJ shots, then it’s recommended to take photos off-site at the hotel.
3. Photography Opportunities: The grounds are stunning and provide excellent options for newlywed portraits, first looks, and group photos. The ideal months for outdoor wedding photos in New Jersey are May through July and September through November. By keeping these points in mind, you can better prepare for your wedding at Park Loft.
4. The indoor ceremony space is intimate and does not allow sufficient room for the photography team to walk along the outside aisles. As a result, photographers and videographers sometimes block guests’ views when capturing creative and emotional shots during the ceremony, particularly of the front row VIPs and the couple as they exchange vows.
5. The food is insanely good, the staff is highly attentive, friendly, and efficient, the venue is clean and so unique, and they offer valet services.
6. Park Loft is ideal for year-round events, allowing all events, including the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, to take place indoors. Check out a winter wedding at Park Loft to see what I mean.
I view film-style wedding photos more as an editing style than a shooting style. While I focus on capturing most wedding days candidly, for clients who request a film look, I incorporate more motion blur and apply a grain filter effect during the editing process. This approach creates a vintage film appearance in the wedding photos.
