Thinking about having your wedding at The Madison Hotel Conservatory venue in New Jersey? I not only have beautiful wedding photos to share with you – but I also share valuable advice on what you need to know before you book this dreamy venue.
It’s a wedding venue in North Jersey located within a hotel, designed to accommodate your wedding guests. It is next to a popular restaurant where you can dine inside a vintage train car, a bar, and within walking distance of a train station. The guests who travel from NYC without a car find it easy to commute to!
Address: 1 Convent Rd, Morristown, NJ 07960
1. It’s a popular spot: The Conservatory is often booked for bridal showers, baby showers, and other events. That means on your wedding day, it’s very likely another event is happening before yours. So, taking portraits or using the space for portraits before the ceremony may not be possible.
2. Weekday weddings have perks: If you want to take advantage of the Conservatory for photos before your event begins, a weekday wedding gives you a better chance. Nine times out of ten, I have photographed a weekday wedding, and the conservatory was available for portraits.
3. Sound limits exist: The Conservatory follows a noise ordinance, so dance floor music will be quieter than a typical ballroom. Don’t worry, the energy you bring to the dance floor will create a ripple effect, and no matter what, it’ll be memorable!
4. Hotel rooms = major convenience: The Madison Hotel has rooms for you and your guests to stay on-site. The presidential suite is great for getting-ready photos. If you can book a second one for your partner, even better. There are also conference rooms available for larger hair/makeup groups, but they aren’t very photo-friendly and don’t have bathrooms—so you’ll want to be strategic about avoiding guest run-ins in the halls.
5. Rain? Extreme weather? Hakuna Matata: This venue doesn’t have outdoor ceremony or reception options, but the Conservatory is stunning rain or shine. I’ve photographed weddings here during the coldest and hottest days, and even storms, and everything still ran perfectly.
6. Highly recommend a day-of coordinator: They’ll help with time management, vendor communication, guest flow, and setup—making the day smoother for everyone involved.
7. Where to take photos at the Madison Hotel: Front lobby, Entrance hallway, Under carport, Front entrance, Side entrance/lawn, Front of Rod’s train car, Inside Rod’s train car, Rod’s bar, Fireplace, Courtyard hedge, Elevator
