Hempstead House (aka the Gould-Guggenheim Estate or Sands Point Preserve) is a castle-inspired venue, so why the heck NOT?! Call ahead – they were only charging a private photoshoot rental fee of $450 for up to 3 hours on their grounds when I did the shoot with this lovely Long Island couple in New York. This includes, inside the castle, the garden, and a private beach. If you want to bring your fur baby, ask in advance, and they likely will say yes!

Cortney and John, dog pawrents, love spending time on the beach when they aren’t saving lives. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, they wanted to do something wedding-related that was really fun – and engagement photos session at their favorite place to visit in Long Island, the Sands Point Hempstead House.
I am not going to sugarcoat it, but I had minimal to no experience with off-camera flash (OCF) couples-portrait photography. I am so glad I did my research before the session and got inspiration from Pinterest posts and blogs so I was extra prepared for their engagement photos. This day was full of so many cool challenges, that lead to growth in my creative abilities! You’ll see that I placed one of my OCF stands at the bottom of the castle’s staircase for a dramatic image that also had a silhouette I loved. I want to do more of this for my indoor sessions! I may become addicted lol. This was my first session ( I have been waiting for a long time) where the couple wanted to get down and sexy in the beach-water (fully clothed too). I have to say – some of my favorite photos of all time!
Since June 2020 I have been practicing my photoshop skills – and I love a few I have on here that gave an enchanting vibe. What do you think?
