Many couples about engagement photos outfit ideas, “What should I wear for my engagement photos?” And I’m guessing you are trying to find the answer to that as well.
Engagement photos outfit ideas are below.
The engagement photo shoot is such a fun way to capture the personality and dynamic of a couple. I love to introduce interesting places like waterfalls, hidden gems in NYC and fun props such as fairy lights or sparklers to add a little magic to the photoshoots.
“Consider to wear long flowy dresses to add movement to your romantic engagement photos.”
After photographing hundreds of couples, engagements, proposals, and weddings, I have a lot of experience to reference for what works and what falls flat for engagement photo outfits
How Dressed up Should I be?
First, for your engagement session, there’s no such thing as “too dressed up.” My favorite go to’s are long and flowy dresses because they look amazing on camera. If you love bracelets and dangly earrings, do you boo.
How Many Outfits Should I bring to my Engagement Shoot?
Two to three outfits would be perfect. Maybe you’d like one casual outfit and one more dressed up and glam. It’s completely up to you!
If you do choose to bring more than one outfit, I highly recommend that you bring a rolling suitcase to transport your outfits and accessories and maybe sandals or tennis shoes as we move from location to location. Sometimes I like to move around to find the best light and backdrop. We don’t want you getting tripped up in your pretty dress now, do we?
What Colors Should we Wear for our Engagement Photos?
There are many options for your color palette, but there are a couple of things that I recommend not to wear such as white on white or monotone colors. And please, I beg you, no clashing patterns i.e. If he’s wearing a tiger-striped shirt, please don’t throw on your cheetah patterned dress….er, better yet, how about we leave both of these items at home. haha 😉
The rule of thumb here is, whether your style is bold and bright, super glam, or more boho chic, be sure that your outfits compliment each other.
Regardless of your style, just remember, confidence really is your best accessory. Your engagement session should be fun, so don’t stress yourself out.
And if you have any questions or ideas you want to share with your photographer before your shoot, be sure to talk to them before the day of your engagement session. This is your chance to get familiar with your photographer and learn how they work. Take the time to tell them what your style is and share any ideas that you would love to mix in.

Things to Remember When Shopping for Your Engagement Shoot
Just a bit of warning…Your shoot will most likely be outdoors in a park, on the street, in a field, or even in a waterfall if you’re feeling adventurous.
Regardless of where we are shooting, there’s a pretty big possibility that your outfit might get dirty. We’ll, of course, try our best to avoid it, but….dirt happens.
And if your dress has a train, the hem will get dirty and require dry cleaning after the shoot.
During your shoot, you may be asked to sit on the grass or dirt or on a tree or walk through fields of flowers or countless other activities that might involve getting a little closer to nature than you normally would in your fanciest clothes.
So remember that threads could be pulled, etc. Suess Moments will take precautions to make sure your dress isn’t shredded and damaged, but please consider my advice here when ordering your gown for the shoot. Suess Moments is not responsible for damage.
