Where to find the cutest engagement dress for your romantic photoshoot

 

YAY! You get to marry your bestie very soon and you’re almost ready to announce the big day to your VIPs! The second best part of planning a wedding is picking out your engagement photo dress. First best part is picking out a wedding dress 😉

 

 

As a Jersey City and New York City-based couples (engagement photos) photographer, I am obsessed with capturing movement and flow from a dress during a couple’s (engagement) photo session. I believe the cutest engagement photo dress romanticizes the photograph. I have done my research and found the top 10 places for the cutest engagement photo dress (even own a few from the following stores myself).

What actually matters when choosing the cutest engagement photos dress

• If you want to wear a dress with a busy print, make sure your partner is wearing something solid
• While I am my own worst critique, I do tend to hate getting photos taken where my tummy is sticking out. So keep in mind when picking out a dress, if you’re like me, do not choose a dress that is like a bandage or form-fitting type. My advice is if you hate your arms, get a dress that has sleeves.
• Shoes only matter when the photo is being captured. Bring a comfortable pair of flats to change into so your feet don’t hurt.
• You don’t have to match your partner, it’s not high school prom or the typical family photos (where everyone wears white lol)
• Avoid black if you can, as the dress detail will be harder to photograph
• Avoid horizontal patterns as it will make you appear wide in your photos
• If you are like me, with a large chest but want to rock a strapless – I find this sticky bra to be the best for support, coverage, and long-lasting
• Your dress may get dirty, mourn now, not during the photoshoot 😉
• Online shopping? Order in multiple sizes if you can. Make certain that you check the return policy in case one fits better than the other before your photoshoot!
• Stay away from sequins as the light reflects from the dress to your skin and can make it extremely difficult for the photographer to edit later
• Tulle and Chiffon material are always a good call

The internet’s sexiest and dreamiest (aka cutest) engagement photo dresses are found on A&N Lux Label’s website. They make gowns custom order and ship worldwide. I wish I had a reason to wear all their gowns. Keep in mind, they run sales, but they do tend to run in a higher price range of $299-$599.

1000 Love can be found on Etsy (support small businesses, yay!). I have ordered their tulle skirt with a high slit and the mauve-pink skirt you see in the photo samples below. They are affordable and under $100! The skirts are high-quality fabric and perfectly paired with a crop top or bodysuit.
